Crochet

Foundations and other Chain-free Goodies – The no-chain foundation and turning stitch.

A good YouTube channel for the more exotic stitches – Naztazia.

Back Bumps

There are three places where one can put the hook to create a new stitch from a chain stitch.  One can place the hook in either the front or back loop of the ‘V’ or one can use the back bump, the bump that forms on the back of the ‘V’.

Using the back bump on the foundation row creates a nice, neat edging (the ‘V’ becomes the edge).

If you chain a number of stitches then slip stitch into the back bump you will produce a two-sided string of stitches that makes a nice edging or can be used as accents on a crocheted piece (I’ll post pictures of this shortly).
